Events and Experience
The world through your eyes
By Marc Greene
Awareness is always tainted by your concepts of self, the world, and your environment, there are no exceptions. You create your life, period. Every so often you do need that reminder. All stimulus will be filtered through that lens of highly focused self-ideas, accepting only that which fits in line with your personal beliefs. Events then, and experience, seem to match, the state of mind you currently hold. If there were to be a crack in your favorite pair of glasses, you would say “I can see perfectly clear except where they have a break, there my vision is blurry!” If you believe in evil for example, what is ‘good’ will be out of focus, you will have lost your balance. You will however, encounter fearful and troublesome events, and those will be so clear, you will deem them real.
You must understand then, that you need to be able to see clearly, but that’s only half the equation for then you must correctly interpret what you see. So we will go back to beliefs, which is what our book “Heal your Self” is all about. For it is always your belief structures that taint your vision. Each belief tinges the lens in the same manner that your physical glasses if broken hamper your sight. Now, do you wish to see life through a cracked lens? This will hopefully lead to examination, because if there is any area of your life that you are unhappy with, you have simply broken that portion of your glasses. You need to repair your belief systems as surely as you would replace your corrective lenses. Belief structures, as we will term them, are psychological atmospheres with barriers. Atmospheric in that your life naturally evolves from them, giving you a climate within which to operate. They are silent sand castles of great stature, you depend on them. But just as they have been given birth by life experience, through self examination they can easily fall and be replaced.
Life as you know it is an experience, period. You may hope for certain items, or outcomes that you perceive to be good, that would make you happy, you say. You ignore the road to the outcome, whether bumpy or clear, in lieu of winning your prize. Oftentimes you do not like what you are being or doing to achieve that desired result, building on the self-condemnation by shoving unwanted feelings into a corner of your mind you care not to visit. The build up of unwanted beliefs leads you to where you are today.
You restrict and repress wants and desires because you simply do not believe you can have them. You then develop a pattern of beliefs that lead to disappointment, creating all manner of experience with an inner mechanism of failure. You consciously reaffirm your worthiness, but due to inner conflict with which you are unaware, you have created a psychological structure revolving around the energy of loss, and on the surface wonder why you struggle so. The structure has taken root through repeated perceptions and events dating back, as you say, and now you will fail automatically, as sure as you do not have to think to breathe.
You must begin to release the boundaries self imposed by the restricting mind structures and free your self. Physical structures will fall as your concepts and self ideas change. But you must know how to do that. I suggest the exercises within “Heal your Self” specifically Greene’s Release, geared towards removing and replacing beliefs you do not wish to keep, effectively and quickly.
The experience of a given life enhances the character of the individual. Not the outcome. What are you being on the road to your goals? In the being, within how you are feeling, is hidden the individual beliefs, the emotional climate if you will, and those can be changed.
You are not given over to hallucinations of a negative variety, nor can you lose your soul to a devil. You are not evil or born into a fate beyond your control. You have been given mixed messages, that you have allowed yourself to receive, and you only need to question those messages, which you may have never thought to do.
